sunsets and silos

One wouldn't think that Illinois has beautiful sunsets. I'm sure that California tops both of these images, but these both are from home. I'd forgotten how beautiful they can be in the country. The first image is from my mom's front porch. The second is from Cape Girardeau, MO on the way into the Christmas Eve service.


In my home county everyone farms. (except for my family) I've lived there nearly my whole life and never noticed how many trees grow out of silos...? Anyone have an answer to why?
