Melissa + Pete: I Do

When someone chooses me to photograph their wedding, they are putting a whole lot of trust in me. I've heard lots of photographers say that the stress of having One shot at getting it right with no do-overs is stressful to them, but for me, it only pushes me to do my job, and do it well. I hope I can deliver.

I usually make every attempt to meet with brides one to two times before the wedding, especially if we have not known each other before the initial contact. I want my brides to be comfortable and feel like they know me by the time the wedding day comes. Sometimes though, on rare occasions I'm not able to meet with my brides before their big day. Melissa and Pete are an example of that, and I am completely humbled that they put their trust in me to capture their day!

My fabulously talented friend,  Shannon Anderson contacted me several months ago about filling in for Pete and Melissa's wedding for her as she welcomed sweet little Max into the world the week of their wedding! I was a little nervous of whether Pete and Melissa would be comfortable with me on their wedding day, but let me tell you: I could not have asked for a better bride and groom for the day! They were fantastic, and so easy going. They were even comfortable with some out of the box ideas, like taking them to a parking garage! Ashley and I road tripped to Bloomington, Illinios for the weekend for the wedding and had a great time. Thanks again Shannon for the opportunity, and Congrats to Pete and Melissa! Enjoy the images.

Megan + Taylor: I Do

Two Marine Corps weddings in one month.  Ooh Rah! I love it! :)

Taylor and Megan are high school sweethearts from my hometown. Taylor grew up in the church that Stephen's dad pastored in Mulberry Grove, Illinois and I knew Megan's sister, Erica in high school. Megan and Taylor are incredibly adorable. (as you will see) Don't let their cuteness fool you though, they are one tough couple. Even though they're young, their relationship has already survived  bootcamp and a deployment! When you are military, one of the BEST parts of getting married is to finally be together. And even after that, there are many nights apart. However, the days you are together far outweighs any deployment, work-up, training, or field-op.  I loved having the chance to photograph these two on their special day. I hope you love your images.

Megan and Taylor,

May God bless you as you begin your journey together. Center your marriage around Him and you will be blessed. A cord of 3 strands is not easily broken.  When you're apart pray for one another, and when you're together pray with one another. Love unconditionally, and serve each other with willing hearts. The best is yet to come.

-Much Love, MK

Bobby + Lacey : I Do

There are very few times that I have been moved to tears at a wedding. This was one such time. Maybe it was because I have known them both for so long? Maybe it was the sweet emotion from Lacey's dad when he saw her for the first time. Or the excitement in Lacey's eyes when she was about to see Bobby for the first time.

All these things happen at every wedding, but it makes it so much different when you know them personally. I was honored to be a part of Lacey and Bobby's wedding day. I am lucky to have them both as friends and have had so many good times with them in the past and am happy that they'll share many more good times, now as man and wife.

Your wedding day was beautiful, but Trust me guys. The best is yet to come.

Thank you guys for trusting me with such a special day in your lives. And Bobby, thank you for bearing with me when I wanted to take your photo 500 times, and Lacey thank you just for being one of the sweetest brides ever. :) I hope you love your images and I hope Jamaica was a blast!

Praying that you will have a long and happy life together. Love you both! :)

Kenley : Bridal

Your wedding day is the one day in your life where you're permitted to feel like a princess and to be treated like one too. Why not add a photoshoot in the mix? :)

Bridal portrait sessions are becoming more and more popular amongst brides. It's the perfect time to do a trial run on your hair and makeup, AND an excuse to wear your dress one more time. :) (you know you want to!)

On the day of your wedding I photograph bridal portraits of just you and just your groom as well, but a bridal session allows me the opportunity to maximize the amount of time you get in front of the camera! After all, it is YOUR day!

Here's the latest bridal session of Kenley before her big day. Kenley, you made a gorgeous bride!

Kenley + Joseph: I Do

Traveling back to my old stomping grounds, I had the fabulous opportunity to photograph these love bird's nuptials. It was the first wedding I've photographed where I've known 90% of the guests that were there. It was fun to see so many people I know and grew up with. Most of all it was so fun having the privilege of capturing Kenley and Joe's special day. Special thanks to Ashley Miller Photography for tagging along and grabbing some great shots for me!

I loved what the pastor shared with the guests at Kenley and Joe's wedding. During pre-marriage counseling he asked what their favorite thing about each other was. Just to name a few:
"She's obviously gorgeous!" and "I love that he's always smiling." :)

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day! I hope you fall in love with your wedding photos. :)

They say it's good luck when it rains on your wedding day. On Kenley and Joseph's day, it rained. We were a little concerned whether the weather would let up long enough for us to photograph them outside. To our advantage, the overcast skies provided awesome lighting for our portraits.

We headed to Copper Dock Winery after the ceremony, just outside of Pocahontas, Illinois. Love both of these images, especially Kenley's sassy look on the right! :)
