I was rejoicing when I found out my second semester at SIUE would be spent living with Erin and 2 other roommates I'd never met before. 4 girls shared 1 2 bedroom apartment...and one bathroom. :) Roommates can be risky when you've never met them before. Roommates can be risky when you've known them your whole life! Let's just say that overall- roommates are risky. :) One risk I'd be willing to take again- living with this week's fab friend; Caitlyn Knight. I don't recall our very first meeting or how it all went down but I do remember our first outing together.
It was a Friday night. Erin was gone. My roommate was gone. There we sat this new girl; me and this new girl I'd never met before: Caitlyn Knight. We talked about things we liked while we sat on our oh so (NOT) comfortable dorm-like sofa. Bored and without any studies to complete yet we ventured out into the great town of Edwardsville to catch a movie. Our movie of choice- Step Up. Little did I know that as we sat in our movie theater seats, with no popcorn or soda (because we were broke college students), drooling over the thought of dancing around with Channing Tatum sans shirt, a wonderful friendship was brewing.
Caitlyn- ah QB. If there was one person in the world who laughed at everything stupid that I said, but seriously thought it was funny- it would be Caitlyn. :) I lover her because of it. If there was one person who could make me laugh on cue- it would be Caitlyn. I lover her because of that. Oddly enough we both think the same things are funny. Our friendship is pretty well centered around humor. It's rare that you find someone else who enjoys Homestar Runner AND shares a love of The Office. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I've known Caitlyn all my life.
My favorite memories with Caitlyn include:
- random trips to Hobby Lobby and St. Claire Square
- laughing at her A.I. rendition and peeing my pants
- Dancing at Wild Country
- racket ball at the rec plex
- North Carolina visit
- sitting through a 2 hour rain delay at a Cardinals game
- singing and playing guitar together
One of the things that I love about Caitlyn is how excited she gets about things. Whether it's something as important as getting married or a steal she found on a new purse. You know when Caitlyn really likes something! She's also one of the most positive people I know. No matter what the situation she always tries to look at the bright side of everything. She's my glass half-full friend or at least turns something bad into something funny friend. :) I will say that if I had to be stuck on a desert island with 3 other people, she would be in the running.
So here's to Caitlyn, my fabulous friend who gets me.
